Ready for reopening!

We are happy to announce that Mrs Smith’s Cottage will be reopening on Friday 21 May, and we can’t wait to see you all again! The Cottage will once again be open from Friday to Monday 12pm until 4pm, with last entry at 3:30pm, every week. Booking online is essential.

Go to dev.mrssmithscottage.com/visit to make your booking.

Upcoming Events

The Mrs Smith’s Cottage team will be running a Cupcake Day bake sale to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society. With the hope of good weather we will have cake stands in the garden, and you can simply pop in and pick up a cake.

Entry to our gardens, where the cake stands are, will be free of charge.

Regular admission applies for entry to the cottage.

We need you to volunteer!

As we get ready to reopen the Cottage in May, we need the help of our volunteers more than ever! Have you got the right stuff? We’re looking for committed, enthusiastic people to join our team as volunteers in a range of roles. In return you will gain valuable skills and be part of an award-winning team!

Spring is in the air! #signsofspring

Over the coming weeks we will be using the hashtag #signsofspring on social media. Join us! If you see anything that just says ‘Spring’ to you, then take a photo and put it on either Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #signsofspring. We look forward to seeing all those flowers and baby lambs!

Oral History Project

Throughout 2020 the Mrs Smith’s Cottage team have been busy cataloguing the Navenby Parish Archive, which contains many images and newspaper cuttings detailing the history of Navenby Village.

The next step in the project will be the collection of images to add to the Navenby Archive as well as new oral history recordings, capturing remaining memories of Mrs Smith and a record of changes to Navenby since the end of the Second World War.

Once we are able to safely reopen we will be planning events to collect images and train a volunteer team to collect oral history recordings.

Do you have family from Navenby? Are you living in the village? Did you know Mrs Smith?

Email us to let us know you are interested in taking part, and we will keep you up to date with the project and upcoming events. [email protected]

Mrs Smith’s Cottage Learning Offers

In Lockdown we created the Digital Cottage, with a wide range of lockdown learning activities freely available for families to explore from the safety of their homes.

We cannot wait to welcome families back to the cottage! To make our reopening extra special we are continuing our family learning offers with activities on site as well as loan boxes containing books, toys, and activities packs, which can be borrowed for £5 a week.
