Mrs Smith’s Cottage @ The Cliff Villages Carnival

The Cliff Villages Carnival in Navenby at the weekend proved to be a huge success with community spirit in abundance! Huge congratulations to the organisers whose hard work definitely paid off as they were blessed with a  beautiful day. Our team at the Cottage had a fantastic time chatting to locals and visitors about our National Lottery Heritage Funded project. It was lovely to see some of our old volunteers and members of our Friends group as well as meeting potential new ones.

As building work has now begun on the cottage we will be running a series of community events throughout the rest of the year where you can get involved with various activities or just nip in for an update! Event listings will be posted on here and in our village noticeboard on the side of the bus-stop in front of the Co-op.

British National Ploughing Championships

Our next event will be at The National Ploughing Championships on the 12th and 13th of October. This year the event will be held in Nocton and we will be there both days with our artist Nicki Jarvis who will be hosting ‘have a go’ heritage crafts. Activities on offer will include corn dolly making and sew your own lavender bag.

This amazing event is held in a different part of the country each year. The Championships offers a rare glimpse of how farming has changed over the past 300 years – magnificent heavy horses and many styles of vintage tractors and equipment and steam ploughing engines.  With lots of trade stands, shopping and country crafts, it’s a great day out for all the family!
