Christmas Customs Talk
10 December 2021 at 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Presented by Tom Lane with music from Nigel and Teri.
Firstly, we try to establish how long Christmas lasts and then look at the traditions of this jovial season through time. But where did Santa Claus come from and why is he dressed in red? Why parade a boar’s head on a platter? Why kill a wren on Boxing day? Why is it bad luck to refuse a mince pie? Some of the many questions we will attempt to answer, between some festive songs. Don’t forget to bring your singing voice!
From 6pm the cottage will be open for you to explore, with mulled wine and mince pies available to enjoy. Once everyone has arrived we will head over to the Navenby Methodist Hall for the talk, this is a less than 2 minute walk away.
Payment can be made in advance by either calling the cottage or dropping in while we are open.
